Nobody Here But Me by Judith Viorst and Nobody Notices Minerva by Wednesday Kirwan

Nobody Here But Me by Judith Viorst Nobody Notices Minerva by Wednesday KirwanA young boy is ignored by his mother, father, and sister who are busy over the course of one hour.

He entertains himself by cutting the fringe on the carpet, cutting his jeans, spilling juice, and finally going to bed.

The cause of this misbehavior is that no one is paying any attention to him.  Finally he goes to bed, then everyone knows something must be wrong.  He’s not really asleep though, just pretending and enjoying every minute of it.

This would be a fun book to use to teach cause and effect.  Because he is being ignored, the effect is all of the messes he makes.

The rhyming text is fun to read and hear.

A clock is featured on almost every page going  from 4:00 to 5:00 making this a great book to use in teaching telling time.

There is a text-to-text connection with Nobody Notices Minerva in that Minerva is also being ignored by her family.  She’s the middle kitten in the family so many children will have a text-to-self connection with being middle children.
